Things to do in Autumn
I don’t know about you, but Autumn is my favourite season of the year. The days are cooling down so you can enjoy the sunshine without breaking a sweat. The leaves are changing colour and the days are getting shorter.
It’s a wonderful time to get baking and snuggling under blankets while enjoying warm treats. The cooler air means you can get out and try new things without the oppressive heat of the summer months.
From taking up a new hobby to enjoying nature, there are just so many wonderful things to do in Autumn.

Hiking and Cycling
Autumn is the perfect time to get active in the great outdoors. The sun is warm but not burning, and there is so much natural beauty to explore. Walking and hiking for hours in the comfortable Autumn air is a delightful way to take in the wonders of nature and its changing colours.
Cycling is another great way to get out and about. Whether you kit yourself in full lycra and take it seriously, or you jump on a fun cruiser to see the sights, riding a bike is a fabulous Autumn activity. Explore your local area or take yourself further afield and discover new locales.
You could even ride your bike from winery to winery. Wine regions often position their vineyards close to one another, so you can easily tour the area by bike. Alternatively, hire a driver to take you and your friends from place to place so you can enjoy a tipple responsibly.
Australia and New Zealand boast many wonderful wine regions for you to explore. Chances are there’s a winery not too far from you, or you could make a weekend of it. Grab a group of your closest friends or opt for a romantic getaway with your partner.
Prep your Winter Wardrobe
While you might not be throwing on coats and boots just yet, Autumn is the ideal time to get your wardrobe ready for winter. Pull out your cold weather gear and refresh it in the sunshine. Then have a big old try on to see what still works and what you can pass on.
Find the gaps in your winter wardrobe and make a list. Take your time to browse for preloved gems online or in vintage stores. Get together with friends for a wardrobe swap. You’ll be surprised what you can offer each other to refresh your collection without spending a cent.
Make the most of the snuggly cool nights by taking up a craft. Knitting and crocheting are ideal hobbies that allow you to lounge while making something cute to wear. There are so many ways to get into crafts, with easy online tutorials or prepared kits for you to make something fun.
Create a gorgeous scarf or a cute beanie to wear or gift. Show off your handy work by sharing what you’ve made on your socials and encourage others to get involved.
Autumn is the ideal time for picnics! Bake some treats or outsource the cooking by buying some delicious pre-made salads, freshly baked bread, and tasty fresh fruit. Throw in a lovely bottle of champagne or freshly brewed herbal tea and enjoy the Autumn air as you feast on yummy treats.
Find a new place to put your picnic blanket down or head to a favourite spot and relax in the sunshine. Pack some lawn games or a good book and make the most of your Autumn picnic.
For more extreme activities, search travel and tourism websites for unique experiences happening in the Autumn months. You might like to head to Queensland for turtle hatching, festival season in Adelaide, or witness the changing autumnal foliage in Canberra.
Whatever you do, make the most of this beautiful time of year and all it has to offer.
Enjoy the Autumn sunshine and go for a picnic with friends
